Sir Angell Appointed Commander of Royal Court of Ikenga Abiama Dynasty

The Board of Trustee, BOT and Executive of Ikenga Dynasty Foundation has formally approved the appointment of His Royal Highness, Duke Sir Leslie Richard Angell, as its ROYAL PATRIARCH- Commander of the Royal Court of Ikenga Dynasty of Igboland, Federal Republic of Nigeria in recognition of his outstanding contributions in Humanitarian Mission, especially Human Rights, Women Empowerment, International Justice, Poverty and Peace in Africa and globally.

Sir Angell’s appointment as the Commander of the Royal Court of the prestigious Pan-Igbo and African Foundation was confirmed in a letter dated August 21, 2024.

An official statement signed by the Founder and Chairperson of IADF, Amb. Dr. Uba Iwunwa, Queen Ugobeze, described Sir Angell as a friend and major contributor to peace, unity and progress of African people. “It is with great pride that we honour Sir Leslie Angell for his outstanding works in Nigeria and Africa. From an initial background in healthcare and human rights from a health perspective, Angell had worked side-by-side with many people from the African continent who had travelled to the Western societies, not to seek fame and fortune but to find a better life for themselves plus send funds home to Africa to support their extended families. He has endeared himself by sharing in our noble objectives of making the world a better place by lifting the disadvantaged, the poor and the vulnerable people around the world. Such a person deservers a seat in the court of Ikenga Abiama Dynasty of Igboland.

Sir Angell was recognized in 2009 for his human rights efforts in Africa, and later appointed to the International Human Rights Commission, before becoming Hon. High Commissioner UK and Malta. His involvement within the World Humanity Commission, also based in Nigeria followed by his emergence as the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and then currently Consul General.

He receive an International Human Rights Defenders Award in 2012 for advocating In Human Rights, Women Empowerment, International Justice, Poverty and Peace. He was invited to speak at The World Peace Conference in 2013 and at other international events, where he shared his African journey.

According to the British diplomat, his interest and focus revolve around finding solution to socio-economic challenges plaguing most African countries such as Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda under the guidelines of United Nation subject guidance. His aids intervention are channeled into addressing Food, Water, Health and Educational challenges.
